Between 2017-2019 the EarthScope National Office at the University of Alaska Fairbanks supported a series of nine EarthScope Synthesis Workshops, each of which brought a small group of scientists together from multiple disciplines. Synthesis Workshops typically involved 10-15 people, intended to help start successful working groups. The EarthScope National Office used the output of these workshops as part of its efforts to bring EarthScope science to the public. The workshops created working groups that followed up with additional research, papers, or their own proposals in some cases. Synthesis workshops came with funding to cover the travel expenses of the participants.
